For those of you who weren't around for my games on the forums, winJade is going to be a successor to AeroXperience. We're not prepared to talk about what exactly winJade is or when it'll launch; all I can say at the moment is that winJade is the next AeroXperience.

Three things to note:
  • There will be a change in direction with winJade compared to AeroXperience, though it'll still be focused on Windows.
  • Because of the change in direction, there will also be a change in staffing on winJade (the new direction of the site makes some people more qualified than others to help us out).
  • All site updates will have to hold until winJade is launched (security patches notwithstanding).
In other words, AeroXperience won't be seeing IPB 3. That'll be saved for winJade once we launch.

Final note: we'll be looking for testers down the road. You'll know if you've been chosen. Ditto for staff/managerial roles.

Sounds good Bryant. So The "AeroXperience" name will be done away with and winjade will be the replacement (given the new URL) or is it just a codename.

I wonder about the new direction.
It could be more of a general Windows focus, but it sounds like it's something more specific.

But you probably can't say any more about it ;)

Does this mean AXP will die (like the site will be shut down) once winJade comes along?

All active user accounts for the forum will be kept intact (with the possible exception of zero-poster accounts, but we haven't decided this yet).

aeroxp.org itself will 301-redirect to winjade once this is all done.

Hmm. Interesting. So this is like a total repurposing for the site?

The only issue I see (which has already happened before with the move from v4 --> v5) is the mass of front page content (mostly you) created. It's been spread to pretty big organizations. Is there a plan to keep it accessible?

All blog posts from v5 onward will be imported and will be accessible, and all previous links will be forwarded accordingly.

Hopfully we will see a change by this fall, or at least by the first of the year
