It looks nice, some of the pictures look a little to cluttered though.

I don't think I could ever get used to that bar down the side though...

Weird, why put longhorn back forward buttons in a Vienna concept...

Wow, it's a harder to use Vista with a new theme.

People that insist on creating "mockups" of this mythical operating system need to focus on how it functions not on how it looks. Everything I've seen so far isn't about pushing the boundaries of what you can do with a computer, it's a Photoshop contest.

Not to mention that nobody seems to notice that there is NO "Windows Code Name Seven." Seven is a version number. Vienna is a code name. Simple as that. I'm also going to agree with Raskren that at this point the OS should be about adding features, not looks. Longhorn at this stage in dev looked essentially identical to XP, and the focus was on adding low-level features.

By the way, take a look at 10.jpg. Applikations? Someone doesn't know English too well, despite attempting to create an English-language mockup.

you all only know scepticism, it's from a russian site so yeah there can be mistakes, those shots are great and yeah it's only photoshop not features but this really show what I'm dreamin' on for the next OS : find longhorn ideas back, as with this sidebar well integrated to explorer etc.
Those shots were done to express that feeling, and if you look close on the first pics (red ones) you'll see it's the mockup of the 2005 conceptuals vids from microsoft directly and Microsoft was, as those shots, not showing wonderfully new or revolutionary features, come on
If you are one of the 87% of Vista users that actually like Vista, place this in your signature.
Take a look at my deviantART page !

I'm with the consensus here. While it looks nice (I especially like the blue "ice aurora" wallpaper), there's many issues, both graphically and from a usability standpoint. A few of the more laughable ones:

1st pic: In the "Computer" window, the status thing at the bottom says "Disk Defragmented YES (Green light)". That's not a good thing now is it? ;) Also, what on earth is that tile in the sidebar called Task Processes for? I don't get it.
OOBE Config: Clock settings - I can view them but not set them? Useful.
Allover: I noticed two things here. First, we aren't going to jump versions that fast are we? Office 14 I'm okay with, as it is the next version, but IE12 and WLM11? Jumping the gun a bit, eh? Secondly, this isn't a new product. It's still Windows (and I'm going to rant about that in a new thread soon). So why are there all new build numbers? (I realize this is trivial anyways, but what the heck).

OTOH, I like the 3D thing in the last pic. Multitouch anyone?

for UI concepts, these aren't bad at all.
This is actually what Microsoft wanted to archieve (somewhat) but that was way before longhorn/vista.

These shots are little similar (only by colours) with the old CIW UI prototypes (well the prototypes looked a lot better than this)

I am really enjoying mockups, but only when they are created almost perfect, when they make you believe that this is the possible future UI, and these are far from it

The only thing i do actually like is those transparent scroll bars. That seems like a cool concept. The theme on them was a bit ugly but the idea was good.

I had this off-topic comment to say:
oh, and by the way,
conception is something entirely different than concept

definition of conception said:

the act of conceiving; the state of being conceived.

The word works in context. It's no one's fault but your own that you think of something totally different when you read the word.
